About PSN
Promoting and advancing physiological knowledge across Nigeria and Africa.
Founded in 1978 at the University of Benin by Prof. Diete-Koki, the Physiological Society of Nigeria (PSN) began with 18 members and its first president, Prof. Felix Oladejo Dosekun. Today, PSN is one of Africa’s most active physiological societies, fostering research, education, and collaboration. The society is affiliated with the African Association of Physiological Sciences (AAPS) and the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS).
Our History
The Physiological Society of Nigeria (PSN) traces its origins to April 28, 1978, when it was founded at the University of Benin during a meeting convened by Prof. Diete-Koki. At that inaugural meeting, Prof. Felix Oladejo Dosekun of the University of Lagos was elected as the first president. What began with just 18 members has since evolved into a thriving community of physiologists, with a strong legacy of promoting physiological science across Nigeria and beyond.
